About

I really enjoy imbibing a good beer or a glass of wine. Actually, I really enjoy several beers and glasses of wine. What I don't enjoy is the lack of productivity that results from said imbibing. I am at my happiest when I am very productive. Daily productivity for me is this: 5am wake-up, work for an hour, get a good run in, make breakfast for the kids, get the kids started with school, get work done for my several jobs, clean the house, play with the kids during recess, help the kids with their school work while working my teaching job, after school playtime and a workout, meetings with clients, more house chores, craft/art time, family dinner, get the kids to bed then relax. This is my weekday life. The weekends look about the same but include very long trail runs and yard work or adventuring. If I choose to imbibe on any or all of these days things seem to fall apart, I get cranky, my housework doesn't get done, I don't wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed, I have heightened anxiety and I don't feel the best on my runs. If the instant gratification that alcohol brings me is keeping me from truly being happy then it's time to take a break. I do this periodically throughout the year based on how much is going on in my life at the time. I've been "dry" for a few weeks now and I plan on continuing through March. I am inviting you to join me for a "Booze Free February"... Starting on Monday cut out the alcohol for a month (the shortest month!) and see how you feel!
